Cleaning a Composite Sink: Here's How to Do It
At Caressi, we believe it's important that you remain satisfied with the quality of your composite sink. That's why we're happy to share some tips on how to clean your sink properly, along with advice on how to maintain it.
Our composite sinks are primarily made from quartz, with acrylic resin as a binding agent, and require the right care and attention. With the correct cleaning and maintenance routine, your sink will stay looking beautiful for years to come.
Use the Right Products to Clean Your Composite Sink.
Composite sinks require proper cleaning and maintenance, so it's important to use the right methods and products. This will help keep your sink looking its best for longer.
As part of your daily routine, always dry the sink thoroughly with a soft cloth. This prevents water from remaining on the surface, making the sink easier to clean and maintain. It also helps prevent excessive limescale build-up and staining.
Cleaning Stubborn Stains.
Have stubborn stains developed in your composite sink? Our materials specialist recommends the following cleaning methods:
-
Vinegar and water: The best way to tackle stubborn stains is with a mixture of vinegar and water. Mix them in a ratio of 1:40 and apply the solution to the surface of the sink. Leave it to work for 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with clean, cold water.
-
Baking soda or household soda: For stubborn food residue, baking soda (also known as bicarbonate of soda) or household soda can help.
-
Important: We strongly advise against using corrosive cleaners, citric acid, solvents, or bleach-based cleaners on your sink.
Removing Limescale.
If limescale does occur, you can easily remove it with a few helpful tips:
-
White vinegar: Gently warm some white vinegar and apply it to the limescale. Alternatively, soak a cloth or sponge in lukewarm white vinegar and place it directly on the affected areas. Leave it to work for 20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry the sink with a soft cloth.
-
Specialist limescale remover: Use a specialist limescale remover suitable for composite surfaces.
-
Avoid abrasive products: Do not use abrasive sponges or cleaning products, as these can damage the surface of your sink.
Daily Cleaning Tips.
-
To prevent stubborn stains, clean your composite sink daily with a soft cloth. Avoid using abrasive sponges.
-
We also recommend cleaning your sink daily with a mild soap.
-
Always dry the sink thoroughly with a soft cloth to prevent water marks and limescale build-up.
Using and Maintaining Your Composite Sink.
For everyday use, we recommend following a few simple maintenance tips.
Use heat-resistant silicone mats to prevent hot pans from coming into direct contact with the sink. This helps prevent stains and discolouration caused by heat from hot pans or boiling-water taps.
It is also important to avoid dropping sharp objects into the sink, as they can damage the surface. Similarly, avoid cutting food directly in the sink to prevent scratches and other damage.

It effectively removes stubborn deposits and is free from surfactants, fragrances and colourants. Suitable for sinks, kitchen sinks, tiles (excluding natural stone), kitchen cabinets, countertops, worktops, taps, glass and plastic surfaces.
Use: Apply the product generously to a damp cloth or non-abrasive sponge and use it to clean the surface. Leave it to work for a short time, then rinse thoroughly with plenty of clean water. Finally, polish the surface.
Please note: Do not use on acid-sensitive surfaces such as marble, enamel, anodised aluminium or certain decorative tiles. Not suitable for natural stone. Always test the product on an inconspicuous area before use.
Caressi Sink Polish.
A specialist polish designed for easy cleaning and maintenance of high-quality kitchen sinks. It removes stains, deposits and fine scratches. Suitable for sinks made from stainless steel, granite, quartz composite, enamel, plastic, glass and ceramic.
Use: Allow the bottle to reach room temperature and shake well before use. Apply a small amount of product to the surface and spread it evenly with a cloth. Leave it to work briefly, then wipe away the loosened dirt. Finally, wipe the surface with a clean cloth and polish to a streak-free finish.
Please note: Do not use on polished marble, hot-dip galvanised surfaces or anodised aluminium. Always test the product on an inconspicuous area before use to prevent damage or discolouration.
Caressi Protective Balm.
Invisible protection for sinks and worktops. The Protective Balm is solvent-free and breathable. It is suitable for sinks and worktops made from (slightly) absorbent natural stone, composite and hard stone.
Use: Shake the product well before use. Apply a thin, even layer to the clean, dry surface. Avoid applying too much product and remove any excess before it dries. For highly absorbent surfaces, the treatment can be repeated after 5 minutes. The drying time is approximately 2 hours, and the product reaches its full protective effect after approximately 24–48 hours.
Please note: Do not use in direct sunlight or on damp surfaces. Apply at a temperature between +10 °C and +25 °C. The surface must be free from any cleaning product residue. Keep the product away from glass surfaces. When using the product on natural stone, always test it on an inconspicuous area first, as colour changes cannot be completely ruled out.
